I admit it. I haven’t paid much attention to the whole tethering thing. Since getting a 3G iPad and being lucky enough to have the unlimited plan, it wasn’t necessary. I never took my laptop out of the house. For Christmas, however, I got a new Macbook Air to replace the 2008 model I had and suddenly tethering matters to me a whole lot.
In an attempt to simplify things I thought I’d be able to tether my laptop to my iPhone, using the iPhone as a cellular modem. While I was at it, I cancelled the 3G plan on my iPad, assuming I could tether that as well. NOT! No only can I not tether an iPad, but I can’t get unlimited data back, either.
It’s enough to make me go back to my Google Nexus One, which I promptly did. My son is drooling over my (currently unused) iPhone 4.
